US21 - Change Filibuster Rules
Change Senate rules so that the minority will find it tough to use filibuster as a tool to thwart the majority.

Description

The current rules make it much too easy for the minority to block legislation and allow them to abuse  the system and  suppress the majority.  Filibustering is a tactic that is increasingly being used to maintain the status quo.  The procedural rules need to be changed  to be like the House of Representatives, where a simple majority is all you need to pass a law or confirm a nominee

Why not just do away with the filibuster all together? (3 replies)

I understand the desire to keep this time-honored tool to protect the minority. Do you agree, however, that the current use of the filibuster should be restricted in some way so that the minority cannot simply impose a blockade against new legislation? Especially during crisis times, the government has to able to respond effectively and should not be held hostage by the minority.
