Description
As our U.S. Senator, George Allen pledges to sponsor or co-sponsor again a Federal Marriage Amendment, which says “Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.”

Counterarguments
We are a nation of many peoples and beliefs. The only way to respect all citizens is to allow each to make personal decisions themselves. Government should not impose its values upon marriage. It should allow marriage equality, including gay marriage. It should also protect the rights of religious organizations to follow their beliefs.

The Constitution is NOT the proper place to DEPRIVE American citizens of ANY rights.
