Idea #US8 - Legalize It

Legalize marijuana. Current illegality is a waste of resources.

Argument
http://www.drugwarrant.com/articles/why-is-marijuana-illegal/

Visit this web site to learn the history of how marijuana became illegal and how it received its negative stigma. The reasons are no longer valid and we should be able to take advantage of all the plant's benefits.

Idea #USCA1 - Alternatives to fossil fuels

We need alternatives to fossil fuels.

Argument
We need to start switching to hydrogen cars to slow down the "supposed" depletion of oil. Gas also needs competition to control price fixing and charging high rates at the pump.

Idea #US466 - Public Organization to Fact-Check Political Ads

Require that political ads be approved by a public fact-checking organization

Argument
Also, the news has to stop referencing twitter posts as a creditable news source.

Idea #US462 - Smart Government Management

Create bottom-line metrics for government programs to improve management and provide the basis for spending decisions

Argument
I'm surprised this doesn't exist yet in this analytical era. If the stock exchange as all its data collection methods, it should be possible to create a program to quantify new programs and track its production after it is passed. I would live to see the analysis between Obamacare and Medicare. This would help use to streamline the government and make programs accountable.

Idea #US11 - Campaign Funding Through Taxes

Make the first $100 paid in taxes for each individual go toward funding candidates/political causes of their choice

Argument
I agree and I also believe that media outlets should be required to allot the same time and ad space to each candidate. This will hopefully eliminate candidates voting laws in that are in the interest of financial contributes.

I wish I had a strong example of this working but the only country I know that does this Brazil and that place is beyond our level of corruption. However, Brazil use ethanol in their cars.

Idea #US74 - Mandated physical education in K-12 public schools

Bring back federal physical education mandates in K-12 education.

Counterargument

I think this falls into the parents resposiblity to get their kids out of the house. Parents have to get their kids involved in sports and doing household chores.

The education has already been cut so much. I think it is more important to decrease the size of students per class, get better equipment and updated text books.

Idea #US17 - End Too Big To Fail

If financial companies are Too Big To Fail, they're too big

Counterargument

The government should not bail out companies. No matter the size of the company, the government should let the company fail. They can split the company into smaller pieces during the liquidation process to evolve into smaller and potentially more successful companies. However, I don't think the government should have the power to restrict the size of the company. It should be a natural evolution in the economic model.

Idea #US464 - Overturn Roe v. Wade

Immediately save lives by effectively repealing Roe v. Wade

Counterargument
If you repeal Roe v. Wade, you have to create a program to take care of babies/children after they are born. We will give them a better chance to succeed. This is the best argument for pro-choice:

Idea #US851 - How Should Too Big To Fail Work?

Net out and mutualize world debt so the only thing that's too big to fail is the whole world

Counterargument
You need more information about how you would do this. Also, what are the pros and cons of this economic mentality?

Idea #US114 - Students should be tested at the end of each year

Students should be tested at the end of each year and those scores used as a basis to evaluate student/teacher progress

Counterargument
Tell me more. How would teachers be rewarded for having good test scores? Or would their reward be keeping their job? Would the students repeat the year if they didn't do well on the test?

Idea #CA1 - Abolish the Canadian Senate

The Canadian Senate is literally an oligarchy of elitists created by Victorian idealists.

Counterargument
What do you suggest to replace it?

Idea #US105 - Cap on Military Contractor Profit

Profit by military contractors should be fixed/bounded to eliminate conflict of interest in having more war

Counterargument
I don't understand. Are you saying that Halliburton contracts the US military to protect their pipelines? check out http://pipelines.curry.com/ then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RC1Mepk_Sw Or are you suggesting that Halliburton has a military (Blackwater) and the US government contracts them to fight wars?

Idea #USNYLOC1

Ban NYC stores from displaying cigarettes behind the counter.

Counterargument

You shouldn't be able to stop a company from advertising the location of their product. If tobacco become illegal, I will agree with you but until then I disagree. It is the reposibility of the store owner not to sell tobacco to the child (since that is illegal) and it is up to the parent to inform their kid about the dangers of tobacco use.

Idea #G3 - Global Vaccination Code

As globalization increases, vaccinations should be reviewed as an international code in order to prevent epidemics.

Counterargument
No vaccinations. Vaccinations keep the viruses alive. We need to work on cures. Their need to be a better solution then injecting small doses of the virus into me. Vaccines have become a source of revenue only for the failing drug companies like Pfizer and J&J. Vaccines may also be linked to creating other disorders like autism in children or narcolepsy.

Idea #US6 - Condom Vending Machines in High Schools

Free condom vending machines in all public high schools

Counterargument
I think teen pregnancy is more of an education and parental involvement problem. I don't think kids have problems getting condoms from the health office. However, if you do offer them you might as well charge for them.

Idea #US4 - Mandatory voting

Voting should be mandatory.

Counterargument
You can't take away the right to choose to vote or not to vote. It is a choice that people shouldn't be punished for.

Idea #US102 - DC Statehood

Make Washington DC a state. Its population is more than Wyoming and they get no representation in U.S. Congress.

Counterargument
Or we could combine states to add up to the acceptable population size. I'm not really comfortable with the track record of elected officials in DC.

Idea #G5 - World Government To Eliminate Military

If we had world government, we wouldn't have to waste resources on military/defense.

Counterargument
I believe that is called the United Nations and all we use it for is to manipulate the world.
